Beyond Fear Workshops

Our lives today are more stressful than ever before. The COVID 19 pandemic, isolation resulting from prolonged quarantines and economic turmoil has contributed to the increase in anxiety related symptoms and fear in the general population. People who did not have anxiety before, now suffer from it and people who were already suffering from anxiety, now feel more anxious than ever.   

Anxiety is a very normal response to stressful life events as our bodies try to alert us of potential dangers. As our bodies respond to seemingly dangerous life events, we may experience uncomfortable feelings that affect our lives and prevent us from functioning in different areas of our lives. Many times excessive worrying and anxiety are accompanied by physiological responses in our bodies including a fast heart rate, sweating and tiredness that can be debilitating for most people. It is important that you treat address these symptoms before they become worse. Preventing worsening anxiety related symptoms can help you identify which areas in your life can be changed in order to reduce your anxiety.

Our workshops can help you learn the skills that will help you overcome anxiety and fear.  C.O.R.E.FIT’s Fitness & Faith over Fear workshop is designed for participants who desire to learn skills to overcome anxiety related symptoms or have experienced anxiety producing events that have interrupted their growth professionally, relationally, and educationally.

What is the Beyond Fear Workshop?

C.O.R.E.FIT’s Fitness & Faith over Fear workshop is a 2.5-hour four sessionngth-based and cognitive-behavioral
evidence-informed skills-based workshopdesigned to relieve symptoms of general anxiety and depression among youth anParticipants learn skills that will help them overcome theiranxiety and fear including
  

  • Relaxation

  • Identifying and challenging distressing thoughts  

  • Problem solving techniques  

  •  Processing life challenges    

  • Interaction of mental, physical, emotional, spiritual
    and relational health.

 These skills are learned through instruction, group discussion, and the use of physical fitness exercises to work through challenges and practice skill building.  Between sessions, participants complete assignments and participate in activities that reinforce the skills they’ve learned. C.O.R.E.FIT also includes an action maintenance support plan that includes accountability, community support, and resources to sustain participant’s growth post workshop..
